Industrial Water Treatment

Many large scale industries including Oil, gas, petrochemical, mining and power industries require use of water for cooling and other purposes on a massive scale. The large amount of this water is used in the cooling plants. Due to the increasing shortage of water resources around the globe, the available water should be used very carefully and efficiently. The industrial water should the treated to increase the reusability of available water.

Water is used in many processes in industries including cooling, processing, cleaning, heating and various other processes. Industrial water treatment is a way to optimize industrial processes to reduce the water consumption and to ensure the water reusability. It is necessary to overcome the issue of water shortage and to reduce the operational costs and energy consumption. The poor quality of water can affect the quality of the products, pipes, erosion and other units. Another major problem is the disposal of industrial wastewater into the environment which is a threat to the aquatic life and other living organisms including the human beings.

Industrial Water Treatment technologies are getting advanced day by day and the market of these technologies is estimated to be more than $7 billion. According to experts, water treatment technologies market will expand up to $11 billion in next few years. Major users of the water treatment methods are oil, gas, food, beverages and mining industries. More than half of the wastewater technologies are being used by these industries.

The contaminated water in industrial processes can cause damages to the units and systems. The traces of solid wastes in the water can cause failure of the machinery. The industrial water treatment is necessary because of different factors including fouling, corrosion, micro-organisms growth and danger to living organisms due to disposal of wastewater.

With the increasing demand of such technologies and methods, researchers are working day and night to make the water treatment technologies more efficient, cost effective and less energy consuming. The innovation in the Water treatment technologies are being done with every passing day. The technologies include Reverse Osmosis membrane technologies, ultra filtration, UV radiation treatment, oxidation, different biological processes, use of ozone and several other technologies.

The most common method for Industrial water treatment is use of membrane using the reverse osmosis process. It is very effective, less energy consuming and cost saving. This process removes solid particles including dust, sand and other waste products. Then the organic compounds and toxic wastes are removed from it. Then water becomes suitable for the reuse.

Industrial water treatment is inevitable also because of the dangerous effects on aquatic life, animals, human life and other living organisms. The Environmental protection agencies and regulators are also making sure the safe disposal of wastewater. Industrial wastewater must be neutralized before being disposed to ensure the safety of living organisms. There are several companies these days that install the Industrial Water treatment systems and plants in industries. Large scale businesses and industries can avail the services of those companies to increase their efficiency, reduce the operational costs, increase the productivity and reduce the energy consumption.
